Our Silkworms Are Changing

Last week we noticed a lot of changes in our silkworms. They had started to build their cocoons! We learnt that it takes 2 days for them to make their cocoon. Now we need to wait for around 21 days for them to come out as little moths. We hope they come out before the school holidays.

Apple's Visit

As a part of our Meeting Needs unit Miss Burgess brought in her pet rainbow lorikeet, Apple. We had a close look at his needs (Nectar and fruit for food, water, his cage for shelter and lots of love). We also noticed that he doesn't have the need for clothes like we do, that would be silly.
Apple also has some wants similar to our own. He loves toys and for a treat he loves to eat honey.


We all got to take turns taking a photo with Apple. He was very gentle and even gave a couple of us a kiss on the cheek.

 

Crunch and Sip

Crunch and Sip started last week. Everyone has been bringing in such yummy healthy food and fresh water.
If you're getting a little stuck for ideas Kindy have got some interesting ones for you:
- Corn
- Capsicum
- Blueberries

Gumnut Babies

This term we have been taking a close look at May Gibbs' Gumnut Babies. For art last week, we made some little Snugglepot and Cuddlepie bookmarks using water colours. We got to take them home on Friday.

Veggie patch update

Over the weekend Miss Burgess went to a gardening shop and bought some strawberries and broccoli seedlings for our garden. Our cucumber seeds have also started to sprout. It's very exciting!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads, Uncles, and Grandad's in our school. Last week the children wrote some beautiful things about their dad's that I have to share.

"My dad is the best because he works at a restaurant and he makes pizzas. I love my dad. I play with my dad." -Anthony
 
"My dad is good at soccer because he scores lots of goals. My dad is the best at weight lifting because he can lift me and he is good at lifting cars. I love my dad."  -Ethan

"My dad is the greatest because he is a builder. My dad is funny and silly. My poppy is the best poppy. I love my dad and poppy."  -Evie

"My dad is the best because he carries me and my sister. He is strong. My dad is a hair dresser. My dad is the best because his car is a racing car. I said "You can be a racing man". He said "No". But I would like him to be one".   -Emily

Hearing Awareness Week

Last week Kindergarten celebrated Hearing Awareness Week. We had a special visit from Mrs McAndrew and she taught us all about how the ear works and what it is like for people who are deaf. We even got to try out hearing aids. How cool is that? Everyone made their own special headband that said "I'm a fantastic listener" to take home. We learnt a lot of new things about the ear and how to take care of our hearing. Thanks Mrs McAndrew, it was great fun!
